Rolling Thunder comes to DC for Memorial Day. 

As soon as traffic stops, the cross-street wheelbarrow race can begin.

Favorite Traffic Cop Dies

Joseph Pozell passed away yesterday. Though I never met him, I've often stopped to watch him direct traffic at Wisconsin and M street in Georgetown. His smooth dance was one of the sights that made walking through Georgetown so pleasant. Not to mention, without him the traffic on M street tends to completely stop up. In fairness, I should pass on that the 19-year-old driver was cleared by the police.

One of my favorite poets, Khalil Gibran, is memorialized across from the British Embassy on Mass. Ave.

Sad Day in Georgetown

A few weeks ago, I posted a picture of this man, Joseph Pozell, who volunteers his time to help one of the most problematic intersections in DC flow smoothly. Sadly, he is presently fighting for his life after a 19-year old SUV driver plowed through the intersection and ran him down. There will be a vigil for him in Georgetown thise evening.

The world as we know is changing. These cops are clearly telling funny Sedgeway stories. 

This bridge on 16th street is guarded in the ancient way. Bronze lions. 

They're handing out pamphlets and selling t-shirts. For some reason, the upscale store selling coffee knickknacks felt the competitive heat and asked DC's finest to move them to a different spot on the sidewalk. 

My goodness, them are some big dogs you got there buddy. One arguably good reason to drive an SUV in the city, those things won't fit in a Mini.

Because it's Mother's Day, and because my mom sometimes misses the Azealeas in DC, here is a shot, along with a slideshow of some more.
